Unveiled for the first time in North America at the recent Detroit International Auto Show a few weeks ago, the 2017 Nissan Qashqai resurfaced a few days later at the Montreal Auto Show. One of the most anticipated models of the coming year, the Qashqai is a subcompact SUV that will offer impressive fuel economy while being spacious and fun to drive.
Here are five things to know about the new 2017 Nissan Qashqai.
It will get a fuel-efficient engine
The 2017 Nissan Qashqai will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, while a continuously variable automatic transmission will be available as an option. Offered as standard front-wheel drive, the 2017 Qashqai will also be available with a performance all-wheel drive. While exact fuel economy specs for the 2017 Qashqai are not yet known, there is no doubt that it will be very fuel efficient.
It will offer plenty of room inside
Despite its compact dimensions that place the 2017 Qashqai between the Nissan Juke and Nissan Rogue in the Nissan lineup, Nissan's new subcompact SUV will offer plenty of space for both passengers and luggage. With all seats in place, it will offer 648 liters of cargo space while with the rear seat down, it offers 1,730 liters of cargo space.
It will be fun to drive
The 2017 Nissan Qashqai is brand new to North America, but the model is already available in Europe where many reviewers praise its sharp handling and balanced ride. Its compact dimensions also make parking maneuvers in urban areas easier.
It will feature several advanced safety technologies
The 2017 Nissan Qashqai will be offered with a range of driver assistance systems such as automatic braking, intelligent cruise control, cross-traffic alert and collision avoidance with pedestrian detection.
It will offer many versions
The 2017 Nissan Qashqai will be offered in three versions (S, SV and SL) with a choice of 10 colors. There are many features like heated leather seats, heated steering wheel, sunroof, push-button keyless start, Divide-N-Hide storage system and much more in any of the 2017 Qashqai versions.
